Senior Risk Controller, APAC Firm-Wide Treasury recruitment
Firm-wide Treasury Risk Control (FTRC) is responsible for independent risk control and oversight across all Treasury activities within the bank.
As the Risk Controller at UBS, you are responsible for independent oversight over interest rate and FX risks arising from Treasury activities within the APAC region. You will support the FTRC Regional Head in facing off to the APAC Regional Treasurer in a matrix organisation.
Key responsibilities include:
- Working independently,collaboratively and establish close partnerships with key Treasury stakeholders in Risk Control and Finance.
- Assess risks of complex assets and liabilities in a multi-currency balance sheet containing interest-rate dependent cash flows.
- Develop and implement portfolio early warning metrics, risk sensitivities, stress testing, Risk-based PL attribution and tail-risk analysis tools.
- Contribute to the definition and maintenance of risk appetite policy for interest rate and FX risks in Treasury-related activities, proposing risk appetite / limits risks and monitoring against these.
- Independent oversight over risk representation of all related balance sheet items.
- Defining appropriate stress scenarios for the concerned portfolios and risks and monitoring the results.
- Support the FTRC Regional Head and FTRC functional heads in independent oversight over Regional Treasury activities across the APAC region:
o Local liquidity and funding including local liquidity portfolios
o Face-off to the local regulators as required
o Fulfil any legal entity specific requirements
o Local resolution / recovery plans
- Use sophisticated valuation techniques and risk measurement tools to enhance balance sheet risk and capital management strategies consistent with requirements of Treasury management, markets and regulators.
- Oversight of valuation and assumptions and parameters used in the quantification of risk including yield curves, prepayment speeds, and client deposit behaviour modelling etc.
- Quantify report and assist in mitigation of balance sheet risks in a systematic manner.
- Develop and implement policies, procedures, methodology, limits and reporting framework for Banking Book interest rate and FX risks.
Requirements:
Our ideal candidate should have the following requisites:
- Minimum 5 years risk management or related experience in fixed income capital markets or Treasury at a major financial institution
- University degree in finance or quantitative discipline; CFA or equivalent a plus
- Experience in interest rate and foreign exchange derivative valuation, hedging and risk modelling including hedge ratios, Greeks and PL sensitivity analysis
- Deep understanding of capital markets and cash flow modelling techniques.
- Good knowledge of local APAC markets such as SGD, HKD, AUD, JPY.
- Familiarity with interest rate replication and client deposit behaviour modelling.
- Good understanding of rating agency methodologies and analysis of the rating changes impact on capital levels
- Knowledge of portfolio quantitative and statistical packages (e.g., QRM, CreditMetrics, POINT, MATLAB, Bloomberg) would be advantageous
- Strong experience with risk management techniques such as VaR, simulation, sensitivity analysis and stress testing.
- Knowledge of relevant global and local regulatory and accounting requirements
- Proficiency in Excel / MS Applications
- Strong communication, presentation, influencing and negotiation skills demonstrated across boundaries, locations and multiple layers of the organization
- Demonstrated ability to win trust and respect of business partners
- Adept at working in a fast-paced, high-energy level environment
- Strong results orientation and ability to work in a matrixed reporting structure
- Fluent command in English (oral and written)
- Flexibility to travel as required.
