Senior Risk Officer recruitment
Job Description:
The bank’s business department trades and structures a variety of Islamic products for a wide range of clients regionally. The Senior Risk Officer has a primary responsibility to provide timely and accurate risk management measures for a rapidly evolving business.
The role will involve:
- Produce accurate reporting to meet tight timelines.
- Analysis and reporting of prop and client books Risk.
- Working with the business to understand and ensure integrity in the risk reporting process.
- Analyzing counterparty Risk and setting risk limits.
- Formulation of risk matrix and risk guidelines.
- Developing counter-valuation front office-independent models for pricing derivatives.
- Performing risk reports to the regulator.
- Working tightly with the CFO on the balance-sheet optimization.
The Senior Risk Officer should be able to demonstrate:
- An appreciation of a control framework and market risk.
- Prior experience is likely to have been gained in a derivative product or asset management risk control environment.
- The ability to meet deadlines and work under pressure commensurate with the trading environment.
- Understanding of derivatives, fixed income securities and general market awareness.
- Product control/ risk control experience.
- Islamic products exposure is a plus.
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree (essential) in Accounting, Economics or Finance from a leading university.
- Minimum 5-7years’ experiencein a senior risk function within the Financial Services industry.
- Be a self-starter and create the unit from a bottom up approach. Initially responsible for creating the entire investment banking risk management framework and then to progress to recruit a team.
- Exposure to a wide array of investment banking and global market products and services.
- In depth knowledge of market, credit and operational risks in an investment banking framework.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong quantitative and analytical skills.
- Be a team player with an entrepreneurial spirit.
- Ability to function effectively under tight deadlines and constraints.
- Exposure to Islamic finance is a bonus.
