PURPOSE
Quintiles is seeking a Senior Security Engineer with experience and expertise in information security in a large, enterprise IT environment.  As a member of the Global IT Security team, this individual will develop and implement technology and process solutions to ensure the confidentiality, integrity, and availability of Quintiles information and information systems. 
 
RESPONSIBILITIES
·         Provide technical leadership for the design, development, and operation security controls to help protect the enterprise and its information assets.
·         Participate as a member of IT Security incident response teams.  Apply forensic investigation techniques to document root cause and impact of detected computer security incidents.
·         Manage IT security assessments or audits of internal networks and systems. Document findings in written reports with recommendations for remediation.
·         Maintain awareness of new and emerging cyber attack threats with potential to harm company systems and networks.  Devise and implement countermeasures to mitigate potential security threats.
·         Lead the development, revision, and maintenance of Standard Operating Procedures and Work Instructions related to IT Security.

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
·         Experience implementing and supporting a variety of security technologies in one or more of the following areas: network security, endpoint security, malware defense, strong authentication, web application security, mobile devices (iOS, Android, Blackberry) application security, digital forensics, log management, database security etc
·         Detailed technical knowledge of Windows and Unix system administration and configuration
·         Deep understanding of TCP/IP networking and experience with network management/administration technologies, including routers, firewalls, switching technology and TCP/IP protocol management.  Experience with wireless networking security and IPv6 is a plus.
·         Understanding of email security concerns and experience implementing enterprise messaging security solutions
·         Detailed technical knowledge of configuration and administration of common web server platforms (IIS, Apache, Weblogic, Oracle HTTP server, etc).  Experience configuring and deploying reverse proxy and web application firewall technologies is a plus
·         Previous experience performing security audits / assessments of networks / systems / applications and document findings in written reports with recommendations for remediation
·         Strong working knowledge of current security concepts across multiple computing environments
·         Excellent organizational, written and verbal communication, and technical skills
·         Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with co-workers, managers and customers
·         Ability to work as a member of a global team of information security professionals
 

 
MINIMUM REQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
·         HIghly prefer a Bachelor's Degree in computer science or related IT field; or equivalent combination of education, training and experience
·         7+ years of corporate IT experience, with a minimum of 5 years of experience in one or more of the following: IT security engineering, database administration (Oracle or MS SQL server), software development, Windows or UNIX security, IT Security administration, network administration/security
·         Professional certification in IT security or network / systems administration is desirable (CISSP, GIAC, MCSE, others)
