My client is a Government Agency based in North Yorkshire. They are seeking a Senior Server Officer to add to their team, initially on a contract basis.
Key skills / responsibilities (this is a shorter version of full list):
- To provide support and project services for the clients server estate.
- To support and enable the clients delivery of 24 hour service(s) to the public.
- To contribute to the overall efficiency by ensuring the business systems are fully maintained and operational.
- To participate in the rota of the Out Of Hours Support Analyst role to ensure the clients critical systems are operational outside of core hours.
- Control ICT assets in server and infrastructure area.
- Ensure that administration of the acquisition, storage, distribution, movement, and disposal of assets is carried out.
- Assist with the creation of own development plan based on outcome statements.
- Install and de-install of items of hardware and/or software using supplied installation instructions.
- Conduct tests of hardware and/or software using supplied test procedures and diagnostic tools.
- Correct malfunctions, calling on experienced colleagues and external resources if required.
- Document details of all hardware/software items that have been installed and removed so that configuration management records can be updated.
- Contribute to the development of installation procedures and standards.
- Specify user/system interfaces.
- Translate logical designs into technical designs taking in to account target environment, performance requirements and existing systems.
- Produce detailed technical designs and documents.
- Produce test scripts and to test new and amended software.
- Interpret, execute, and document complex test scripts using agreed methods and standards.
- Apply and maintain specific security controls as required by corporate policy and local risk assessments to maintain confidentiality, integrity, and availability of business information systems.
- Determine when security issues should be escalated to a higher level.
- Demonstrate effective communication of security issues to ICT managers and customers.
- Apply procedures to enhance resilience to unauthorised access.
- Recognise when ICT systems have been attacked, take immediate action, and escalate as appropriate.
- Protect systems and information from unauthorised access or modification, denial of service attacks and ensure access to systems and information is only to authorised users.
- Administer CIs and related information. Apply tools, techniques, and processes for administering CIs and related information, ensuring the protection of assets and components from unauthorised change, diversion, and inappropriate use.
- Develop, document, and implement changes based on RFC.
- Apply change control procedures.
- Monitor infrastructure capacity and initiate actions to resolve any shortfalls according to agreed procedures.
- Use system management systems and tools to collect agreed performance statistics.
