SENIOR SITE SUPERINTENDENT
Reporting to the Executive VP and the Project Manager you will be an ambassador for our client adhering to project requirements and being the main driving force ensuring your project is completed on time and on budget!
This role is complex and will require the successful candidate to be multi skilled and often under physical and time lined project pressures. You will be a positive role model and mentor and be creative and effective problem solver. If you are interested in leading and managing a variety of dynamic project tasks simultaneously then this role is for you!
Snr Site Superintendent Responsibilities:
- Oversee all employees and sub-contractors/trades personnel (100+)
- Effectively manage and motivate job site workforce incl. employees and sub-contractors/trades personnel to complete their portion of the work safely and on time and to also continue working towards providing high quality work standards
- Control equipment and materials to attain targeted profits while adhering to specifications and plans
- Achieve and document project schedule milestones by looking forward and implementing corrective action where necessary
- Develop schedules and construction sequencing in conjunction with Project Manager
- Expedites the resolution of any problems or conflicts that arise in such a way that neither the schedule nor the level of quality for the project is compromised
- Monitor the progress on site and oversee all project documentation including detailed daily site reports, progress photographs and drawings etc
- Monitors project costs relative to the project budget, looks for opportunities to add value, enhance project fees or reduce costs effectively. Advises managers of anticipated problem areas and initiates corrective action
- Assisting with bid clarification on contracts including scope of works, costs and scheduling
- Implementing health, safety and environmental procedures on site and in accordance with current legislation and company policy to ensure the safety of all workers and the protection of the public
- Maintains good working relationships with clients, consultants, inspectors, sub-contractors/trades and co-workers
- Generally lead, direct and multi task
Requirements for the role:
- 10-15yrs experience with commercial/industrial projects is essential (other industries at this time will not be considered)
- Experience with commercial building projects worth $10-20M
- Grade 12 minimum, Journeyman ticket a definite asset or a P.Eng designation
- Skills in carpentry, concrete formwork and finishing are essential
- Valid Drivers Licence
- Proven OHS understanding and high commitment to OHS best practice
- Proven track record for timely completions and budget/forecast success
- Must have historical experience within lead construction/land development companies
- Ability to read drawings and specifications to visualize the work entailed and to prepare a detailed plan to execute work in an efficient manner
- Ability to prepare schedules and to track progress against work schedules as the work proceeds
- strong problem solving, decision making and communication skills
- strong analytical skills with an ability to understand cost reports and to forecast future costs
- Highly organized and achievement oriented with a strong personal drive
- Intelligent, reliable and trustworthy, with good judgment and sound ethics
