Liberty Mutual is looking for an individual to conduct detailed investigations on suspicious losses and "Ring" investigations. In this role, you will use your analytical abilities to review, interpret and evaluate relevant information essential in resolving suspicious, sensitive and complex investigations.
As a member of the Special Investigation Unit you will:
Conduct in-depth field investigations to obtain pertinent information regarding questionable claims activity, you will prepare comprehensive investigative reports, and will analyze and document all evidence obtained in the investigation in order to substantiate meritorious claims, deny unjustified claims or to recommend civil action against responsible parties.
The position requires ingenuity and creativity to obtain case information not readily available, along with the ability to work independently with minimum supervision.
We are looking for someone with:
- Thorough knowledge of the various types of insurance fraud and the strategies and techniques used in their investigation and of applicable state(s) laws' as they relate to those techniques
- Conduct extensive and detailed investigations of suspicious losses and varying complexity in a multi-line Property and Casualty Insurance environment, including both personal and commercial lines.
- Responsible for reviewing SIU referrals for content and assignments, prepare investigative work plans, gather evidence, take recorded statements, write reports and work with outside experts
- Provide proper direction and assistance to outside investigators and claims personnel, including making disposition recommendations to management and execute of agreed strategy determine accuracy of alleged facts.
- Lead in-depth interviews of participants, witnesses or claimants.
- Prepares and files fraud reports in compliance with state requirements.
- Represents the company as an expert witness and provides testimony in various legal settings, including depositions and courts.
- Keep abreast of the latest legislation and court decisions on matters pertaining to investigation of suspicious claims and criminal and civil remedies available for prosecution and restitution.
- Displays human relation skills that are well developed through dealing with insured, claimants, law enforcement officials, fellow employees and the general public
- Provides investigation skills, fraud awareness training and technical expertise to branch offices and within the department
This is a fulltime Telecommuting position. The selected candidate ideally would be located in or near Baton Rouge, LA or surrounding area. This is a work-from-home position, and equipment will be assigned to include a company vehicle, laptop and cell phone. Overnight travel may be required.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience
- 3-5+ years of claims / SIU experience or 5 or more years of previous law enforcement or civilian agency investigation experience; in conducting and leading insurance fraud investigations and /or similar fraud investigations
- Ability to work in a fast paced, high volume multiple-priority environment.
- Efficiency and desktop organization are critical to being a successful SIU Investigator with thorough knowledge of investigation techniques and prevailing SIU practices and procedures
- Knowledge of various government and professional agencies, bureaus and boards which provide personal identification and licensing information
- Knowledge of medical and legal terminology, practices understanding of insurance law and accepted industry practices.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills to effectively and professionally correspond with claimants, insured's, attorneys, doctors, etc.
- Thorough knowledge of the basic claims computer systems and SIU databases
- Strong interpersonal, analytical and negotiation skills
- Demonstrated knowledge of legal liability, general insurance policies, State Tort law and Fraud statutes.
- Proficient at working in a windows-based environment and skilled in the use of MS Excel, Word and has strong typing skills
- Detail-oriented organizational skills in a multi-tasking environment
- Success driven individual who has demonstrated success in a SIU Claims Investigator role by being able to exercise independent judgment and initiative to investigate suspicious claims.
- Demonstrated attention to customer service and be able to work closely with claims adjusters.
- Fluent in Spanish strongly preferred
- Hold a clean driving record to operate a company vehicle
- Some overnight travel may be required
