The Position:
Strategists at this level are expected to have real experience using social media and online engagement tactics to produce measureable results. You should bring to the position an existing network of relationships with online influencers, community managers, vendors, editorial partners and thought leaders. In addition to producing client-ready memos and presentations outlining sound strategy, you should be able to present this strategy in a compelling way and sell your ideas. Team members who succeed in this role will be asked to play a role in advancing Ketchum thought leadership in social media externally. You may also be asked to work on a small pitch team to secure new and incremental business for the Agency.
Responsibilities:
We are looking for strategic and creative counselors who can help clients listen to organic online conversations, recommend strategies and tactics to engage with communities and then execute the plans they develop.
Daily responsibilities include, but are not be limited to, the following:
- Crafting online engagement strategies online media relations strategies for a wide variety of Ketchum clients. Applicants with experience in the Corporate, Health Care, B2B fields are strongly encouraged to apply.
- Drafting internal social media guidelines and policies for our clients and their workforce
- Working with people doing interesting things on the Web to create unique collaborations between brands and third parties (bloggers, content creators, reporters, Web site owners, community managers, etc.)
- Keeping clients and account teams updated regularly and helping to merchandise results and provide context for a campaign
- Creating the content for and facilitating internal trainings sessions, sample topics: Brands and Media on Tumblr," Foursquare and Geo-location," Social Shopping and Group Deals," Telling Brand Stories with Social Media"
- Participating in new business pitches and creative brainstorms
- Contribute content for the Ketchum.com blog and internal communications
- Support Account Teams with annual planning
- Support the development of organization-wide social media management standards, policies and rules of engagement for social media
- Work with Ketchum Global Research to make sure that programs have clearly defined goals, benchmarks and a measurement system in place
- Research and share emerging trends and technologies with Ketchum and our clients
Minimum Qualifications:
The ideal candidate will:
- Have 3 - 4 years of experience in a related field
- Demonstrate knowledge and passion for social tools /platforms beyond Facebook and Twitter (YouTube, Vimeo, Flickr, RSS, Tumblr, Foursquare, Gowalla, Instagram, Hipstamatic, Reddit, Message Boards, wikis, social bookmarking, etc...) AND understand how they can be leveraged to reach client business goals
- Have experience with online monitoring tools (Co-Tweet, Hoot Suite, Google Analytics, Social Mention, Radian 6, Sysomos, etc...)
- Read voraciously; sharing content is an active part of your days
- Cultivate a network of relationship with key influencers in the online and social space, including potential content partners, vendors and media
- Be a self-starter, able to self-manage and adhere to deadlines in an entrepreneurial, fast-paced environment
- Demonstrate strong writing skills and the ability to tell a compelling story visually
- Have a proven ability to craft a pitch that resonates with bloggers and online journalists and a solid understanding of best practices and ethical guidelines for engaging bloggers
- Work comfortably at all levels of the organization, and represent Ketchum at external events
- Behave in a professional and appropriate manner online
- Possess a friendly, solutions oriented personality; we have no need for ego-driven experts"
