The Role

Bloomberg is seeking a highly-motivated software engineer with a minimum of 5 years of industry experience building large scale, highly-trafficked web services and applications. Successful candidates are creative programmers with intimate knowledge on the latest web technologies and have the desire to build innovative web services/applications.

The ideal candidate will be an experienced hands-on Software Engineer who has experience with working in a fast paced environment leveraging best software development practices and has a passion for developing high quality innovative and scalable solutions to challenging problems. The qualified person with be working on developing the applications and web services for the www.bloomberg.com and other support web portals out of our Skillman, NJ location.

Qualifications:

Requirements for Senior Software Engineer:

* BS or MS in Computer Science or equivalent
* Programming experience with Java/C++ in Unix/Linux environment. A minimum of 5 years programming experience.
* Multi-threaded programming, Object Oriented Design and data structures
* Understanding of MVC framework and familiarity with Ruby on Rails is desirable.
* Experience with Network Programming, Client-Server architecture, XML web services, Unix Scripts, Perl, Javascript, RDBMS a plus
* Highly motivated, Innovative, self-directed thinker with an eagerness to stay up-to-date with current trends.
* Knowledge of software engineering principles and best practices for the full software development life cycle, including coding standards, source control management, build processes and testing.
