Would you like to develop the software which runs the BBC News and Sport websites? Can you write quality JAVA, specifically Spring, Hibernate and Velocity? As a Senior Software Engineer in BBC News Knowledge, you will be building the tools which BBC journalists use every day, around the world, working closely with editorial and product design teams.
News Knowledge is the department in Future Media responsible for design and delivery of BBC News, Sport and Weather, London 2012, the BBC homepage, and sites like 'Lab UK' and 'BBC Food', on all online platforms.
Your main responsibilities in this position will be to:
· Design and develop and maintain the BBC’s content management systems
· Conceive and implement great new features
· Continually improve the performance, reliability and usability of the systems you work on
These are the skills we'd specifically like to see highlighted on your CV:
• Computer Science or Software Engineering degree or equivalent
• Fluency in Java and familiarity with Groovy or PHP is an advantage
• Extensive experience of Hibernate, Velocity, Spring
• Track record of building high performance distributed systems
• Strong test practice, techniques for working with legacy code
• Familiarity with Unix/Linux
