Start-up backed by well-known VCs seeks a Senior Software Engineer with PHP experience to join their brand new development team. Based in beautiful Palo Alto, this company is already poised to be one of the hottest start-up companies in 2012. They have been around since 2007, but chose to outsource their development while they focused on their core business. They have received a huge infusion of capital to take the development in-house and re-platform, focusing on scalability, availability, reliability, and redundancy. They are in the midst of building a team from scratch and you would be the second engineer on the team.

What you need for this position:

- Strong PHP development experience with an openness to learn Python or Ruby (we are in the midst of re-platforming and you will be an integral part of choosing our technology)
- Experience working with web technologies, preferably within the ecommerce space
- Web development experience including a deep understanding of CSS, Javascript, web standards and cross-browser compatibility
- Strong software architecture and design sensibility with emphasis on clarity and reusability
- Experience working with NoSQL databases and object relational mapping a plus

What you'll be doing:

* Pragmatically solving problems quickly, efficiently and creatively
* Designing, implementing, and maintaining both server side and client side application and infrastructure code
* Working closely with, and incorporating feedback from, product management, interaction designers, and other teams
