Senior Software Engineer, Technical Lead at BestFit Mobile (Austin, TX) (allows remote)
Job Description
BestFit builds high-profile mobile and web solutions for a variety of platforms. We're growing, and we're looking for engineering leaders who will be able to grow with us.
We need a full-stack LAMP guru to take over daily operations, and lead the planning and execution of a ground-up redesign and extension of our web systems. You'll need to be able to coordinate with product and project folks, and come up with timely solutions to our clients' issues. On the design side, you'll need to be able to architect scalable web systems, and select appropriate technologies and development methodologies to advance our scalability and maintainability. We want you to be someone who is highly competent, confident, and committed to improving our software and how it is built.
Skills Requirements
We're currently using these technologies, so it would be important for you to be able to jump in immediately with them:
Linux, Apache, MySQL, PHP, REST, git, HTML5, CSS, JavaScript.
Over time, of course, we will likely evolve to use whatever tools you recommend to get the job done.
It would be great if you were familiar with, or able to get up to speed quickly with some subset of:
A general understanding of the capabilities of Appcelerator or other mobile development frameworks,
Kohana or other MVC frameworks,
Regression testing and/or test driven development,
Rackspace or other CDN,
Hiring junior engineers,
Agile development methodologies,
Mentoring and managing a technical team, with an eye to raising everyone's technical proficiency.
