The Senior Test Engineer will lead the development of the test strategy and test execution for on-device software (meter, pump, phone, etc) and off-device software (Web, PC). The role will develop test methods and protocols, execute test protocols, track defects and communicate issues to development teams and appropriate management. This role will also manage (develop, test, maintain) a validated test environment for testing of all Diabetes Franchise regulated (FDA, CE, Health Canada, etc...) software products utilized globally. The key goals are to ensure the quality characteristics of the software while minimizing test times and maximizing throughput. In addition, key responsibilities within the new product development (NPD) process include test plans, execution, validation and verification of developed code, assessment of launch readiness of new products as well as testing modifications to existing products in market (sustaining activities).
This position will drive software verification and validation activities (unit tests, integration tests, system tests, protocol reviews, test reports and related documentation) for web, PC and network based software products as well as software on medical devices, utilizing the Diabetes Franchise New Product Development (NPD) process. This role will define the test strategy for software products and be involved with the development/implementation of automated tools and process improvement activities. He or she will confer/work with appropriate cross functional stakeholders, reports at regular interval to management and project leaders on activities/problems/plans. They will work in a team environment with other departments such as software RD, software operations, software quality assurance, marketing, customer support, IT, compliance and others as appropriate. This individual will work with and manage external partners. He or she will develop and manage appropriate test environment in partnership with new product development teams and prepare and participate in external and internal audits as required. They will be responsible for developing and implementing work instructions to support the test process. The Senior Engineer communicates results to leadership in various written and verbal communication channels and lead and support corrective and preventive actions as required. They will root cause analysis of product problems, bugs and other issues and determines and implements the closure of specific corrective actions.
Qualifications
This position requires a Bachelors degree preferably in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering or similar degree. Masters degree is preferred. Position requires at least 4 years experience in software development and/or programming. Experience with requirement management tools, automation testing tools and/or defect tracking tools is required. Familiarity and experience with a range of technologies including development programming languages (Java, C, C++, Visual Basic, etc); database technologies (Oracle, SQL, Access, etc.), operating environments (Windows, MAC) and Browser technology is preferred. Candidates are required to have experience with software verification and validation in a regulated environment (FDA, CE, Health Canada, etc.). Must be a self starter and have the ability to work on a number of concurrent programs/activities
This position will require up to 10% domestic and international travel. This position will be based in Wayne, Pa.
