Senior SQA Engineer
Tyco Security Solutions is a division of Tyco International, a worldwide leader in fire protection and electronic security solutions. Within Tyco Security Solutions, we design, manufacture, and distribute thousands of products ranging from fire detection and suppression systems, personal protective equipment and intrusion security to access control and video solutions, anti-theft and Electronic Article Surveillance / RFID Systems through our five strategic business units (SBUs). TSP is currently recruiting for a Senior SQA Engineer, to be located at our Westford facility in Massachusetts.
The Senior SQA Engineer will work to insure the company's core products meet the company's high quality product standards The Senior SQA Engineer develops, publishes, and implements test design specifications for complex, distributed, client/server applications throughout the full software development lifecycle. Defines and tracks quality assurance metrics such as defect densities and open defect counts.
Essential Job Responsibilities:
Develop test design specifications and test cases based upon functional and software design specifications
for specific functional areas.
Mentoring QA engineers in test case development
Execute test cases and analyze and report test results to product teams
Task/project management
Work with local and/or distributed teams
Participate actively in functional, system, stress, longevity and regression testing activities
Work closely with the development team to analyze, debug and resolve any issues
Participate in product functional reviews, test specifications, code reviews and documentation reviews
Works independently, with minimal instruction
6 or more years of QA test experience
B.S. in Computer Science or equivalent
Industry related knowledge
Has worked on multiple projects simultaneously and can prioritize and balance multiple tasks
Technical Skills
Applicant must be a hard working team player with the ability to learn, test and debug a variety of system components.
Knowledge of Software Quality Assurance methodology
Knowledge of a scripting language to enhance the testing productivity
Ability to work in a motivated, maturing, fast paced environment.
Ability to create test design specifications, test strategy and objectively assess risks
Ability to work both independently and collectively in a team environment
Root cause analysis, troubleshooting techniques, and resolution / idea creation
Experience in setting up and configuring network NAT/Firewall equipment (i.e. Cisco, Checkpoint)
SQL and database operational knowledge, including formulation of SQL queries
Strong written and verbal communication skills
