Job Description:
The Senior Staff Clinical Bioinformatics Scientist provides technical and design expertise for major systems supporting our CLIA services. These systems include LIMS and web portal software supporting next generation sequencing (NGS) and molecular diagnostic applications in compliance with FDA regulations.
Responsibilities:
• Work with cross functional teams, including members of Operations, Study Management and Bioinformatics defining requirements, developing software and performing validation driving customer satisfaction and business growth.
• Design, evaluate, test, and consult ensuring the applications meet customer expectations.
• Translate existing programs to function in the context of a new platform, formulating logic for new systems, devising logic and algorithms, preparing schemas, flow charts, code, document and will test/debug programs.
• Exercise judgment assessing available technologies, identifying causes of applications problems to develop solutions resolving problems and meeting customer needs. In addition.
• Will provide technical direction, quality assurance, training and guidance to application teams.
Requirements:
• Master’s degree in a relevant field with at least 12 years experience in developing and supporting software infrastructure for genomics and clinical applications (LIMS, web and sequencing).
• High proficiency in multiple programming languages, including Microsoft .NET Framework, C#, Visual Basic, VB.NET, ASP.NET, AJAX, VB Script, Perl, Java, SQL Server, Oracle, HTML, XAML, XML, Linux, Oracle PL/SQL
• Advanced validated software design and development skills for LIMS and web based tools is essential.
• The ideal candidate will also be familiar with a broad spectrum of bioinformatics tools including those used to support next generation sequencing and/or GLP/cGMP regulated processes.
• Self-directed individual with strong initiative, excellent analytical skills and attention to detail.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills and ability to work effectively in a team environment.
