Senior Staff Nurse (RMN/RNLD) – Kent

Hays Healthcare is working with one of the leading contemporary providers of adult health and social care in the UK. Specialising in learning disabilities, autism and specialist brain injury, the primary aim of our client’s hospitals is to deliver effective and outcome-focused care, treatment and support within safe environments.
Our client requires a Senior Staff Nurses to work in one of their hospitals based in Kent. This hospital specialises in mental healthcare for young people aged between 12 and 18 years old.

Job Summary:

As a Senior Staff Nurse, the post holder will contribute to the effective and efficient day-to-day leadership and management of the service. Underpinning this, will be the following duties:

· To take responsibility for assessing the care needs of patients and the planning, development, implementation and evaluation of individual care plans.
· To take an active role in providing a safe and therapeutic environment for all who use and work in the hospital.
· To support and deputise the Charge Nurses, in delivering 24-hour care and management of ward based in-patients.
· To work shifts over a seven day week, twenty-four hour day, including weekends and Bank Holidays where required.
· To take charge of the unit on a regular basis
· To safeguard children’s needs.

Person Specification:

Whilst the below is not an exhaustive list, interested applicants should consider the following before applying:

· RMN / RNLD qualified
· Current NMC registration and evidence of recent CPD
· Previous experience of working in an adolescent inpatient service (desirable)
· Be able to demonstrate an interest in the care of mentally disordered patients and young people
· Self-aware professionally
· Ability to communicate with all members of the MDT
· Smart, professional appearance
· Excellent verbal and written skills
· Ability to accept and work through change
· Effective stress management strategies
