Information Technology Services (ITS) is NYU's central organization for technology-based services for University faculty, students, staff, and administrators. ITS provides computer, network, telephony and Internet services to the entire University. ITS comprises the Office of the Chief Information Technology Officer and several service departments working together in support of the broad spectrum of University activities.

ITS is seeking a Senior Systems Administrator who will be responsible for installing, configuring, maintaining and administrating storage systems; proactively monitoring storage availabilities and I/O performance; troubleshooting storage problems, identifying root causes and providing solutions; supporting storage planning and design, product upgrade and evaluation; and presenting performance reports, metrics and recommendations to management for IT strategy. Other responsibilities will be providing technical guidance and training to junior administrators, and performing other storage tasks when needed.

To qualify, you must have a Bachelor's degree (Master's degree in Computer Science preferred) and 5 years' relevant experience with system administration including installation, maintenance, support or an equivalent combination. Experience working with modern storage technologies (SAN, RAID, NAS, Fibre channels, Storage Mirroring, Clustered systems, Zoning/VSAN, LUN Management, etc.), as well as installing, configuring and allocating physical storage a must. The ideal candidate will have the ability to work in a fast paced, 24x7 environment with multiple projects simultaneously, possess strong analytical, troubleshooting, communication and documentation skills, and the ability work independently as well as in a team. Experience installing and configuring IBM servers (IBM Chassis, blades, HBAs, cabling and Stand-alone Servers), copying, moving and migrating data and verifying its integrity, and using IBM TPC tool to generate reports, metrics and statistics on storage for management is also necessary. Experience in IBM or EMC storage technologies (SVC, VPLEX, V7000, VNX, VMAX, XIV, DS5300, etc.), knowledge of Fibre Channel Fabric (Cisco MDS switches, 9513, 9148, 9222i, etc.) and experience or knowledge in High Availability and Cloud Computing Systems preferred.
