· To manage and action the timely resolution of problems arising on assigned systems to agreed SLA criteria. Provision of out-of-hours support as part of a call out rota.
· Infrastructure change management and planning
· Support and provision networked disk storage solutions. These should meet the service requirements cost effectively whilst minimising support effort and callout.
· Escalation of critical issues to CCL and regular reporting of issues, opportunities and project progress.
· Support proactive monitoring and growth planning for capacity management and performance optimisation across assigned systems to agreed SLA criteria unless this is being provided by the capacity planning team.
· Develop solutions for new business in line with BT requirements and standards.
· Seek to improve the running of existing systems and reduce failures and callout.
· Support timely and effective replication back-up and recovery procedures.
· Manage, plan and implement networked Infrastructure storage changes and builds needed in line with BT change control procedures.
· Manage system access security in line with agreed BT standards and procedures
· Maintain appropriate supporting documentation in line with vendor best practice and BT processes and standards.
· Maintenance of hardware to recommended patch and firmware levels.
Assist suppliers, system operations, application support, DBA support and development with trouble-shooting.
Work experience requirements:
· Experience in providing production systems' trouble-shooting and support in a large infrastructure shared environment.
· Experience working with demanding customers in an environment with tight deadlines.
· Experience implementing complex solutions in large projects.
· Experience working in a team to co-ordinate and deliver to customer requirements.
· Experience in providing timely and professional communications to customer, vendor and management audiences.
Technical Requirements:
· Experience in deploying and supporting networked storage in a large shared infrastructure.
· Experience with supporting high-end disk sub-systems in a shared environment EMC DMX, HP XP/EVA.
· Familiarity with management tools such as Solutions Enabler, CommandView Management Software, Cli interface.
· Familiarity with disk backup (replication solutions) such as Continuous access, Business Copy, Timefinder.
· Familiarity with san fabric management (Brocade and Cisco switches). Experience of UNIX administration experience in a large corporate environment (Solaris, HP-UX, AIX) skill with exposure to the system life cycle (design, implementation, support).
· Experience of using host disk management products (Veritas Volume Manager, LVM) in complex environments
· Good scripting skills
Experience of managing some of the following environments:
· Shared Infrastructure SANs comprising Cisco and Brocade switches with EMC, HP or NetApp storage.
· The EMC software suite: TimeFinder, SRDF, ESN manager, Optimiser, Solutions Enabler, Workload Analyser
· The HP software suite, CommandView, Business Copy, cli Interface, CMS
· The NetApp software suite, DFM, Ontap, NFS and Cifs administration.
· Exposure to Oracle or UDB databases.
