The Role:
The successful applicant will work within a highly focused team to support the Operational, Development and QA functions within the Bloomberg PolarLake (BPL) Enterprise Data Management (EDM) service. Based in Dublin city centre, the successful applicants will gain valuable experience of a wide variety of leading-edge technologies.
Responsibilities:
- Server Administration - Administer Windows and Linux/Unix servers. Maintain the physical infrastructure including - Power, temperature, cluster management software, host resources (CPU, Memory, Disk), Backup and Recovery. Monitor Physical systems for component or service failures to avoid user impact. Installing, maintaining, administering and patching Windows and Linux operating systems. Ensure uptime of all systems in line BPL requirements. Provide capacity planning to ensure future needs are met before issues arise.
- Network Administration - Administer network equipment such as switches, routers, cabling, access points, and bridge. Provide capacity planning to ensure future needs are met before issues arise.
- Storage Administration - Administer DAS connected to physical servers and/or SAN/NAS (where appropriate) to provide centralized storage to the BPL environment. Administer and monitor hardware for component failures to avoid user impact. Provide capacity planning to ensure future needs are met before issues arise.
- Security Administrator - Administer security systems such as firewalls, VPN’s, DMZ, Active Directory/NTFS permissions, Wireless access, and other methods of accessing BPL data and resources both internally and externally. Audit systems for potential security vulnerabilities. Install patches to avoid vulnerabilities. Monitor and maintain systems to avoid vulnerabilities.
- User Administration and Support - Make user specific changes to the above systems as users are hired and terminated ensuring appropriate setup and retention of data. Field user support calls regarding problems with the above systems.
- General - Provide regular management reports to line management
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related technical discipline or equivalent experience
- 5+ years of hands-on experience supporting multi server infrastructure
- Industry related qualifications (Microsoft MCSE and/or Cisco Certified Network Professional - CCNP) would be a distinct advantage
- MS Windows OS, MS Exchange (Windows 2008 2010 respectively), LDAP, DNS. DHCP, FTP, SSH experience required
- Linux (Red Hat Linux Enterprise) and Unix OS experience required
- Citrix experience is a distinct advantage
- Experience of managing Apache and Tomcat
- LAN/WAN, VPN and Wireless Infrastructure - Theory Administration
- Independent problem-solving skills
- Ability to effectively use information resources to find solutions
- A high sense of responsibility and availability are requested for this position
