Content Network Services – SAW (Secure Architecture Web) is responsible for technology strategy, management, architecture, and technical operations as they relate to internet 3rd party connectivity and application delivery for ESPN. SAW provides the design of scalable and robust connectivity solutions as well as the implementation and continued support of various IT services including but not limited to web proxy, anti-spam, client and business remote access, internet-facing dns, application load balancing, and automated file transfer services.

** This is a 2nd shift position from 3 PM to Midnight / Monday - Friday **

The potential candidate will work as part of a team responsible for the design, implementation and support of secure connectivity solutions to and from corporate / dmz resources and 3rd parties, as well as the maintenance and upkeep of the infrastructure that supports this connectivity. These solutions are integrated into an intricate network where security, scalability, and uptime are of the utmost importance.

The potential candidate will also be responsible for effective provisioning, installation/configuration, operation, and maintenance of all hardware and software contained within this infrastructure. Participation in technical research and development to enable continuing innovation within the infrastructure will be necessary.

This position is also responsible for planning and executing medium to large scale projects. Typical projects would include new business unit initiatives and updates to existing products and services that require planning, attention to detail, and solid execution. Additionally, this position will be expected to provide first class technical support while participating in a 24x7 operational support and maintenance team.

Additionally, they will also work under general supervision with few direct instructions in administering and managing network infrastructure, monitoring tools and security systems. Contact with others externally is expected with vendors, and internally across the IT department and with our customers.

Finally, the Senior Systems Administrator will proactively manage the network infrastructure through best monitoring practices and will ensure ultimate uptime and system reliability. Documenting the current network topology and keeping up-to-date diagrams is critical in maintaining and managing the network environment.

• Minimum of 6 years of experience with network systems or in a related IT subject matter field
• Strong knowledge of hardware technologies and systems support – administration, configuration, troubleshooting, performance tuning, security, and general maintenance of Windows and Linux platforms
• General knowledge of core Internet and networking protocols (DNS, DHCP, TCP/IP, ARP, HTTP, HTTP/S, SSH, BGP, EGP, and IGP), IP communication, packet structure, load balancing equipment, and troubleshooting.
• Experience with enterprise operating systems including Microsoft Windows and Linux
• Experience with load balancing hardware and next generation firewall appliances and concepts
• Superior judgment, problem resolution, team building and decision-making skills as well as the ability to work under continual deadline pressure
• Superb written and verbal communications skills; excellent presentation skills
• Lead and completes tasks independently, with attention to detail and while under pressure
• Excellent network systems documentation and architecture diagram skills
• Solid understanding of IT Security best practices
• Identifies, analyses, and drives problems to resolution, handling complex issues simultaneously while effectively communicating across teams
• Maintains strong values of integrity, commitment, and self-improvement
• Effectively tracks and communicates technical actions, ensures audience understands why/what/when work will be accomplished
• Delivers customer service excellence by knowing customer’s business needs, identifying appropriate technical solutions, and meeting/exceeding service expectations
• Has fundamental knowledge of hardware, software, systems and specifications, TCPIP protocols on Windows servers and workstations as well as Mac OS, systems management and server administration
• Has fundamental knowledge of trends, technology advances, new products, and best practices in enterprise level network and server systems
• Has fundamental knowledge of Windows and Linux with strengths in security concepts and best practices. Has a fundamental knowledge of firewall (including next generation firewall/ips) and router/switch technologies and a general understanding of deployment and implementation of these technologies
• Has experience and strong knowledge of TCP/IP communications as well as a general understanding of network traffic troubleshooting. This includes the ability to read packet captures
• Has experience and strong knowledge of, but not limited to, VPN technologies, DNS, send mail anti-spam, load balancers, web proxies, and 2 factor authentication concepts
• Very strong networking knowledge with a focus on design techniques and troubleshooting best practices
• Strong knowledge of differences and functionality of various LAN and WAN technologies
• Strong knowledge of basic routing protocols, specifically OSPF and BGP
• Proficient with IP addressing and subnetting
• Proficient with router access control list writing and general concepts
• Can describe the TCP/IP communication process and its associated protocols
• Can describe the components of network devices
• Can speak to DMZ and network security concepts and basic designs
• Can interact and communicate effectively with other staff

Bachelor’s or Associates degree in computer science and/or comparable on the job experience in technical operations or network administration.
