Under minimal supervision conducts and directs major engineering projects for the implementation of new platforms or product enhancements, including development of systems solutions in fluid processing applications. These systems will primarily be related to technologies surrounding (RO, UF, MBR, and the pretreatment and post treatment technologies that are related, etc.) and related applications (water, water reuse, product recovery wastewater). Provides technical in addition to administrative leadership to other engineering personnel in order achieve goals. Applies professional engineering techniques to propose and plan projects and to identify, define, schedule, coordinate and implement:
- New systems designs that provide high value solutions to our customers.
- Experience with multiple fluid processing and fluid separations technologies and the ability to use these technologies to design a system that provides value added solutions for customers.
- Ability to visualize how processes can be teamed together to use the same or similar equipment designs for a new process solution.
- Ability to use pilot data or information from other similar processes to develop and scale systems designs.
- Ability to create estimated costs that can be used to develop pricing for complete systems
Required Skills:
Essential Job Functions:
- Provides work direction of others, either in direct supervisory role, or as senior systems design engineer on a projects.
- Performs investigation and calculations to obtain missing information and to develop specifications leading to design of equipment and systems providing customer solutions.
- Leads projects with minimal management assistance.
- Contributes to the development of budget, schedule, and scope.
- Completes all aspects of project assignments accurately and on time including development of designs, performance criteria, quality levels, verification methods and other aspects as required.
- Assists/participates in specific activities leading to improved customer satisfaction including value engineering, warranty reduction efforts, or other projects as assigned.
- Provides direction, assistance and leadership to cross-functional team members.
- Directly leads and supports equipment and systems design from concept through start up.
- Interfaces with sales customers, CDR, research and Operations to ensure timely delivery to the customer
- Provides technical assistance and support to customer inquires.
- Understands the basics of PFD and PID development as well as systems control basics
- Generates engineering and economic analysis relating to the project. Must be able to generate reports on findings relating to the particular analysis
- Communicates Pentair technical capability to customers.
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree (B.A., B.S.) or equivalent in Engineering, or another technical field such as Chemistry, physics or computer sciences.
- Minimum 7 years of relevant work experience in a manufacturing environment.
- Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access, Outlook, Acrobat professional
- Engineering CAD software, Solid works or ProE helpful
- Ability to develop control logic such as PLC programming and HMI development helpful
- Strong project management skills with the ability to manage multiple projects

- Travel will be required and some longer term international trips will potentially be required.
