Senior Systems Engineer

Specific Job Description Lockheed Martin delivers services and technical leadership for mission-critical federal government, public sector, and private sector programs. This position is in the ISGS Civil organization supporting our customer, the Social Security Administration. The position is located in Baltimore, on the west side of town near 695, Route 26, and Security Blvd. The selected candidate will have the technical experience required to contribute to the architecture, design and implementation of enterprise IT solutions. Candidate will have proven knowledge with network printing environments/formats, CICS, COBOL, DB2, Advanced Function Presentation (AFP) and AFP utilities. Candidate must also have knowledge of DB2, Java, JES 3, TCP/IP, and SAS. Candidate will possess experience with developing web services and deployment strategies. The candidate will analyze existing enterprise infrastructure architecture to ensure it meets business and technical requirements. Candidate will interface regularly with the customer as the technical project lead and provide technical direction to the development team/vendor to ensure that project requirements are consistent, complete, correct, and operationally defined. Candidate will have experience with acceptance testing, test preparation and test driven development methodology/concepts and assist in design, coding, benchmark testing, debugging and documentation of programs using formal specifications, metric gathering, data flow diagrams, and other accepted design techniques. Candidate will possess active listening skills and the ability to instill project confidence with the team and customer. Candidate will possess strong oral and written communications skills in order to clearly and effectively convey concepts, issues, reports, and other deliverables to counterparts. Experience explaining complex concepts to technical and non-technical staff using both verbal and written communications. Experience with SDLC, Enterprise Architecture, and Service Oriented Architecture principles and methodologies. Experience with participation in and/or conducting architectural, design and code reviews. Demonstrated self-starter, highly motivated technical leader, and a team player who adapts to a dynamic work environment. Strong organizational and multi-tasking skills necessary to define, structure, and plan the work to meet the competing needs and challenges of the customer. All employees must be able to pass a Federal Suitability Check for a position of public trust. Standard Job Description Designs and defines system architecture for new or existing complex computer systems. Determines systems specifications, input/output processes, and working parameters for hardware/software compatibility and maintenance of system security. Coordinates design of subsystems and integration of total system. Identifies, analyzes, and resolves program support deficiencies. Develops and recommends corrective actions. May provide technical guidance for database administrators and software developers.
