Senior Tax Manager, International Executive Services (IES), Shanghai – SHT929 recruitment

KPMG covers the development of policies and related remuneration packages, cross-border solutions between mainland China, reviews of international assignment programs, pensions, tax, human resources advice, completion of tax returns for assignees and advanced technology-based solutions. The IES client portfolio ranges from large multinational companies to local start-ups.

We are now seeking high-calibre tax professionals to fulfil the role of Senior Tax Manager to support the continued growth of our IES team in Shanghai. The ideal candidate will bring a commercial and analytical mind and have very strong written and spoken English skills. Knowledge of the China tax system is essential.

Responsibilities

• Have a very strong understanding of China tax legislation and be able to apply it to client issues and support / coach junior staff
• Manage large client engagements, staff and projects efficiently and professionally
• Work with clients to develop tax efficient solutions, which address their business needs
• Liaise with tax authorities in respect of individual tax issues, including tax disputes
• Have knowledge of relevant non-tax legal, financial and business information
• Coach junior members of staff to help them achieve their goals
• Be able to regularly expand their knowledge of the tax business and keep up-to-date with the latest business and current affairs as they relate to clients
• Participate in business development activities and gain new work from existing clients

Experience

• A degree in Accounting / Finance / Law or any other business-related discipline is required, as well as a tax professional qualification
• A minimum of 8 years’ tax experience in expatriate or individual income tax (preferably with a professional firm)
• Experience in handling complex technical issues relating to employee remuneration
• Strong management skills including a good understanding of financial management
• Excellent organisational and project management skills
• Ability to supervise and mentor staff
• Possess strong presentation skills with an excellent command of spoken and written English. Local language skills are a plus
