The finance team is an important part of our company infrastructure and as a member of this team, you will be critical to our success. 

 

The Senior Technical Accountant has responsibility for the general ledger, including preparation of accurate monthly financial statements and for completing account analysis and reconciliations. The Senior Technical Accountant reports to the Director of Accounting.

 

The Senior Technical Accountant is responsible for assisting with technical accounting research for all areas relating to accounting functions and financial reporting. This individual will remain current on major accounting guidance to ensure compliance with US GAAP and SEC regulations. The Senior Technical Accountant reports to the Corporate Financial Reporting Manager. 

 

 

Role Description

·         Senior Technical Accountant

o    Prepare monthly financial statements and consolidated financial statements through the month-end close process within a tight deadline.                                

o    Responsible for accuracy of the general ledger by performing monthly account analysis and reconciliations and correcting discoveries.

o    Tracking and maintaining stock option activities including FAS 123R reporting.

o    Analytic review of financials for CFO, Corporate Controller, external auditors and board of directors.

o    Main contact and coordinator of the annual and interim financial statement audits with external auditors including preparation of all supporting schedules.

o    Assist with planning and implementing smooth and effective accounting integration for acquisition initiatives.

o    Understand and maintain the Company’s key internal controls and insure they are being performed properly and timely. Modify/add controls as necessary to be more effective as changes within the business warrant.

o    Close interaction with the financial accounting, reporting, budgeting and forecasting teams to insure all objectives and requirements are being satisfied and making adjustments as necessary.

o    Monitor, development and improve policies and procedures for more efficient, accurate and timely financial reporting by utilizing originality and ingenuity.

o    Keep up to date on changes in pertinent accounting rules and regulations and perform GAAP research as required.

·         Senior Technical Accountant

o    Perform accounting research, interpretation and develop polices and white papers to ensure compliance with US GAAP, FASB standards and SEC regulations.

o    Research of technical accounting issues will include, but is not limited to, revenue recognition, stock based compensation (FAS 123R), business combinations, variable interest entities, and investments fair value.

o    Remain current on major accounting guidance changes that effect the organization and understand their impact or opportunity and provide recommendations to the Corporate Financial Reporting Manager. 

o    Key participant in the review of customer contracts to ensure compliance with revenue recognition and other critical accounting standards.

o    Participate in the design, promotion, implementation, documentation and continuous reinforcement of accounting policies and procedures.

o    Key participant in the investigation of and likely adoption of IFRS.

 

 

Role Competencies

·         A bachelor’s degree in accounting or business, CPA preferred. 

·         Minimum of 5-7 years related accounting experience in either public accounting, specifically auditing, or private sector.

·         Comprehensive knowledge and practical experience in accounting practices including an understanding of US GAAP, knowledge of SEC regulations preferred.

·         Experience in technical research of complex accounting issues

·         Liaison with external accounting firms as required.

·         Skilled in Microsoft Office with intermediate Excel skills.

·         Independent worker with good decision making skills, which includes knowing when to seek expert assistance.

·         Strong communication, analytical and organization skills.

·         Ability to organize, prioritize and manage multiple projects at the same time.

·         Experience with establishing and maintaining effective work relationships.

·         Must possess and demonstrate a high degree of integrity.

·         Possess the ability to self-motivate and take initiative with minimal supervision.

·         Must be organized, detail oriented and able to efficiently function under pressure.

·         Ability to produce detailed, error-free work within limited timeframes.
