The Role
Hosted by Algorithmics and delivered over the internet, ARS provides access to state-of-the-art risk measurement and investment support tools through a sophisticated and flexible graphical user interface.
In the ARS Delivery and Production Support team, Technical Consultants provide the technical expertise to integrate and maintain the automated processes associated with the ARS system. This expertise is employed at all stages of solution implementation, which include scope definition, configuration, user acceptance testing and production support.
Responsibilities
• Review the technical scope of implementation projects and identify potential concerns or areas that are outside the scope of the standard service.
• Develop and document the technical design and approach for implementation projects, and ensure that the associated effort is represented in the project plan.
• Have technical designs reviewed in order to align with best practices and to maintain high-quality standards.
• Design and develop data integration and mapping scripts to seamlessly transfer data from vendors and internal source systems into the standard service.
• Configure and automate the overnight batch process for daily operations.
• Design and develop system monitoring and re-start scripts for support of system operation as required.
• Initialize and maintain Development, QA, UAT and Production environments.
• Manage the migration process and deploy changes to the environments.
• Investigate and troubleshoot system operations and performance issues.
• Periodic on-call support may be required.
Qualifications
• Related experience acquired in a computing services or Professional Services industry role
• Experience on Unix (Red Hat, Sun Solaris and AIX preferred) systems; some Windows NT desirable
• Database experience with Oracle
• Experience with data manipulation, transformation and cleansing using PERL, Java, Shell and other scripting languages.
• Experience with communication protocols such as FTP, HTTP and web services
• Experience with XML is an asset
• Experience with financial applications and trading systems a definite asset
• Demonstrated ability to provide outstanding customer service to both internal and external clients
• Demonstrated ability to work independently and with a fast paced, team oriented environment.
• Demonstrated ability to communicate complex solutions clearly and concisely to individuals at all leves of the organization – both verbally and written.
• Strong investigation and problem solving skills.
• Proven experience with troubleshooting principles, methodologies, and issue resolution techniques.
Education
University degree: Computer Science or Computer Engineering or equivalent.
