Founded in 1981, NCE are a UK based company (with US offices), which offer the complete Data Storage solution by combining the skills of their service division (offering both depot and field service for storage products) with the knowledge of their solutions team, who architect and integrate Data Storage Virtualisation solutions to address the unique requirement of each business.

Due sustained growth, we are actively seeking to recruite a Senior Technical Support Engineer to work in our Technical Services Department.  This will be predominantly based at our head offices in Calne, Wiltshire but will have a requirement to travel within the UK from time to time. 

Candidates willbe able to demonstrate a deep understanding of the whole SAN infrastructure and have strong experience of hardware break/fix and/or configuration in at least two of the following product families:-

SAN, NAS, DAS, Tape Libraries, SAN switches.

1. POSITION: Senior Technical Support Engineer

2. ORGANISATION: Field Services      REPORTS TO: Field Service Operations Manager

3. OBJECTIVE: To provide internal network support and administration to NCE

4. MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Provide 3rd Telephone Technical Support to Field Engineers and Customers wherever required
- Identify and prepare field service parts for despatch to site or engineer
- Evaluate and understand new products for training purposes
- Provide training to Field Service Engineers
- Be available for out of hours telephone support and participate in Duty Manager Rota
- Ensure that all anti-static precautions have been taken.
- Update NCE database with call status and information and ensure all parties are informed
- Leave testing areas neat and tidy.
- Ensure all procedures are implemented.
- Ensure all calls are closed within SLA.
- Provide reports where required.
- Participate in Technical Services
- Any other duties which may from time to time be requested by your Manager or NCE Director.

5. CONTACT WITH OTHERS
Outside the location: Suppliers of any additional hardware, direct customer, third party maintenance companies.
Within the location: Close contact with all NCE Personnel

6. KNOWLEDGE SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE
Should hold a recognised trade qualification such as ONC, City and Guilds or recognised
apprenticeship in an allied electronic trade. In certain cases adequate experience in an alliedfield may be acceptable.
Must pay attention to detail, be conscientious, work well as a team and by themselves.
