SENIOR TEST MANAGER – Fixed Term Contract recruitment
Please not this is a salaried role and will not entertain day rate consultancy hires.
Core Responsibilities:
- Accountable for the end to end delivery of test components for a project, through the effective management and development of staff within a multi-disciplined project team ensuring staff well motivated, utilising acquired skills and working at optimum level.
- Responsible for the creation of the Test Strategy and associated Test Documentation for each project, covering the required test phases.
- Responsible for test environment planning to ensure the right environment and configuration is in place at the right time
- Identify and agree with the Delivery Programme Manager/Director appropriate Testing solutions and tools to meet business requirements or improve effectiveness, profitability, and/or reliability, automating and maintaining regression test scripts.
- Estimate manpower and skill requirements for effective delivery of testing components of projects, using both internal and external resourcing options.
- Plan the Test resource profile to ensure successful delivery and identify any resourcing deficiencies or issues.
- Set Test objectives for all staff and negotiate service level agreements with any third party suppliers to ensure effective delivery.
- Define and own testing component project plans, fully understand all project and testing assumptions, dependencies and associated risks.
- Coordinate all testing activity.
- Monitor performance against project plans to ensure effective delivery of testing components of IT projects within budget and to agreed timescales taking ownership to resolve all issues.
- Controlling project spend, identifying and reporting variances against agreed budget and re-forecasting where necessary. Keeping metrics on testing progress.
- Responsible for Incident and Change Management during test phase and ensuring adequate issue escalation in those instances where there is a significant business impact.
- Understand and apply project management techniques, standards and guidelines and interpret and develop them appropriately.
- Agree testing terminology and process with overlap points not under Direct Control in line with the Sainsbury's testing standards.
- Accountable for sign off of all test phases for a project.
- Take a proactive part in the continuous improvement process for testing.
- Offer Consultancy and support to other members of the Test Community on process, standards, governance etc.
- Job holders will have high external market value and will exceed the behavioural competency requirements of their role. They will meet category 4 requirements for all the project management competencies.
- They will plan, lead and deliver large scale test components of delivery projects with an overall 12-24 month planning horizon, although these may be phased over shorter periods.
- The test components managed will require integration with other initiatives and will require the job holder to manage major sub-contractors, whose efforts have to be integrated with internal developments.
- Job holders will be involved in adding value to third party contract negotiations in conjunction with Procurement.
Core Requirements:
- Suitable candidates for this role will as a minimum be expected to have experience of leading multi-disciplined teams across the following testing programme:
- Major financial product application changes.
- New platform/application launches.
- Major product platform migrations – covering ETL and Reconciliations.
- Introduction of standards and a common testing lifecycle across multi vendor programmes.
- Experience of completing financial services regulatory assurance reviews, sampling and testing.
- Understanding of financial services industry in general and our client’s products and service channels specifically.
- Job holders will have a significant track record on delivery of large-scale test components of delivery projects which are complex, of high visibility and strategic importance to the Business.
- Ability to deliver objectives and articulate how personal balanced scorecard links to team/departmental objectives and contributes to our clients business Strategies.
