Senior Trader- Fuel Oil recruitment

KEY RESPONSIBILITY AREAS:  

• Keeping a constant up to date knowledge of the oil market at large

• Managing spot and long term contract negotiations

• Managing price risk exposure

• To identify and develop new business opportunities within the market arena.

• To provide management with input, for the consideration of new marketing strategies; to present a personal view and contribute to the decision making process.

• Trading crude oil originating from the assigned geographical area.

• Developing and maintaining relationships with various counterparties.

• Liaising closely with the physical traders

• Arbitraging cargoes from different geographical areas and different time frames (storage in tank farms or on vessels)

• Ensuring appropriate hedging and risk management is carried out by choosing the appropriate hedging instrument (OTC’s, futures) and timing.

• To mentor, coach and have the ability to train junior traders.  

 CANDIDATE SPECIFICATIONS:  

• Strong academic credentials with a degree from a leading university, PhD, MS  a plus, in Economics, Engineering or Finance.

• Deep knowledge of Refining Operations and all related economics (refining margins, transportation costs, product prices).

• Experience in Product Operations and/or Products Trading would be appreciated but not necessary.

• Deep Knowledge on the use of derivatives instruments.

• Ability to communicate in other foreign languages would be advantageous; knowledge of Italian is considered an asset.

• Experience of proprietary trading, especially related to best practice and managing traders; able to advise on appropriate strategies and how best to hedge the book’s exposure.

• Strong team working, communication and presentation skills.
