Senior Traffic Engineer Job in Tysons Corner, Virginia Us
VHB is seeking a senior traffic engineer to join our vibrant and growing mid-Atlantic transportation consulting practice in our Tysons Corner, Virginia office. Traffic operations experience and solid verbal/written communication skills are absolutely essential. Experience working with both public and private sector clients is a plus.
Responsibilities:
- Develop mobility solutions which consider all users, including motorists, bicyclists, public transit users and pedestrians of all ages and abilities
- Complete traffic safety and operational improvement studies for localized intersections and corridors
- Provide analyses of traffic safety issues and crash reduction measures
- Address community traffic engineering issues
- Utilize simulation and signal optimization tools to maximize transportation system throughput (using SYNCHRO, CORSIM, VISSIM or related software)
- Complete interchange justification, functional design and access management reports
- Design traffic signal/advanced traffic management systems
- Support policy and design guidance documents for traffic, technology, and traffic control devices
Skills Abilities:
- Excellent communication (written and oral) and interpersonal skills
- The ability to manage multiple projects and work independently under minimal supervision
- The ability to train, mentor and motivate staff
- A strong work ethic with the desire to learn and achieve
Qualifications:
- A strong background in traffic engineering, program management, and supervision of professional staff
- 10 15 years of experience within professional traffic engineering
- Candidates must have a Bachelor?s degree in Civil Engineering
- Registration as a professional civil engineer in the State of Virginia (or the ability to obtain registration within six months) is required
- Registration as a Professional Traffic Operations Engineer (PTOE) is highly desirable.
