SENIOR UNIX SYSTEM ADMINISTRATOR
Primary Responsibilities: The position requires that candidates display knowledge of corrections duties and functions which include but are not limited to the following duties:
Maintain the functionality of HP UNIX and Linux operating systems.
Troubleshoot and implement Apache and Tomcat based applications.
Manage accounts and access to systems and equipment.
Manage systems resources including performance, capacity, availability serviceability, and recoverability.
Implement security procedures and tools.
Resolve hardware/software interface and interoperability problems.
Ensure systems availability, functionality, integrity, and efficiency.
Maintain systems configuration; manage the installation and integration of systems fixes, updates, and enhancements.
Maintain configuration documentation of systems and equipment; update disaster recovery documentation.
Maintain, monitor, and performance tuning (balancing the load on the servers).
Willingness to answer phone calls during after-hours and weekends.

Basic Qualifications:
Demonstrate knowledge of and experience in:
Implementing updates in server hardware and software.
Monitoring use of disk space, memory, and connections.
Work with Storage Area Network (SAN) engineer and DBA to manage disk space.
Managing accounts and permissions in HP UNIX and LINUX servers.
Work with Enterprise Backup Team (EBT) to ensure the backups are accurate.
Diagnosing system problems and ability to work with hardware vendors.
Monitoring server performance and performing tuning enhancements.
Troubleshooting and fixing configurations issues with Apache and Tomcat.
Possess a Security+ certification.
Preferred Qualifications:
Possess a Red Hat Certification of Engineer (RHCE) (or comparable) is highly preferred and desirable.
Knowledge of USMC applications and operations is desired but not required.
Clearance: U.S. Citizenship required. Ability to obtain a security clearance.
