ABOUT THE OPPORTUNITY: This individual is responsible for implementation and maintenance of host components running the UNIX and Windows based Operating Systems, to support Development, Test and Production requirements. This person should also know and be able to manage Cisco networking devices. He or she would be expected to be the Senior-level subject matter expert with a firm grasp of UNIX, virtualization, networking, backups, SAN, security and other related computing technologies. PRIMARY DUTIES: Responsible for the maintenance, implementation, administration and support of operations in the Annapolis Development Data Center. Maintain, install and upgrade the Alcatel-Lucent SMSC / Lucent MiLife Application Servers platforms Provide guidance and share knowledge with other System Administrators and other technical support providers during daily operation of the environment. Provide daily support of TCS Software Developers and Testers. Responsible for overall network/system maintenance (install / maintain / upgrade) in the TCS Annapolis Development Data Center, writing shell scripts to automate administration and testing, creating test plans and reporting results. Implement system virtualization using VMWare, Solaris Zones Containers and Solaris Logical Domain (LDOM) technologies. Install, configure and maintain web, email, and related software such as various database applications (Oracle, MySQL, PostgreSQL, TimesTen, etc) Perform network and system level performance tuning and capacity planning. Administer enterprise storage systems and SAN. Manage Backups and Disaster Recovery readiness. Analysis of, and corrective actions taken on a vast array of complex technical issues Utilize/Develop processes and procedures that support and improve the operational efficiency of the data center environment. Initiate new responsibilities and helps plan for the future enhancement of the operations in the Development Data Center. Configure MGTS and used to test SS7 and SIGTRAN or Cisco ITP. Stay abreast of technological trends in the Operating System of specialty and enabling technologies. 24x7 on-call rotation responsibility. Be willing to work non-traditional hours when necessitated by business requirements or system failure. Within Annapolis Lab team, will serve as the first line of defense against intrusion and inadvertent system damage. Perform security analysis and maintain security at physical, network and system levels. Other duties as assigned.
