Global Risk is a thriving and expert risk management function supporting HSBC globally with all aspects of risk management. The team actively manages a varied and dynamic range of risk types, including security, fraud, information security, contingency, geopolitical, operational, credit, pension, insurance, financial crime and regulatory compliance, market and reputation risks. All parts of the Global Risk team use their skills, insight and integrity to handle established threats and those they see emerging, acting to protect and enable HSBC to deliver sustainable growth.
Financial Crime Compliance aligns current activities within Global Risk and helps to build these into a more integrated framework to conduct Customer Due Diligence which enables HSBC to manage financial crime risk more effectively. It builds stronger controls to improve the way Financial Crime Compliance risks are managed in order to spot gaps as well as trends so that the team can take action. It proactively gathers and analyses financial intelligence in a smart way so that suspicious transactions, activities or connections can be identified and we can adequately protect our customers from the threat of financial crime.
Regulatory Compliance ensures adherence to applicable regulations and standards by setting the policies which cover HSBC’s regulatory requirements, and mitigate conduct and reputational risk issues. The team strives to remain ahead of the regulatory change agenda and ensures the business understands the implications and is prepared for change. It monitors how the Global Businesses and Functions manage their responsibilities with regard to complying with the regulations and helps resolve compliance deficiencies.
We are currently seeking a high caliber professional to join our team as Senior Vice President Compliance, Monitoring
In this role, you will
- To oversee a monitoring framework across the following business lines in Singapore – Global Banking Markets (GBM), Commercial Banking (CMB), Retail Banking Wealth Management (RBWM), Global Private Banking (GPB) in order to obtain reasonable assurance that the business is operating in line with relevant laws, regulations, codes and HSBC Group Policies within Regulatory Compliance (RC) and Financial Crime Compliance (FCC).
- Maintenance and ongoing development of the RC/FCC Compliance Monitoring Toolkit and Compliance Monitoring Library to ensure tests are appropriate and make use of automation/ IT solutions wherever possible.
- Ensure consistency of approach to monitoring across all business lines.
- Involved with the production, delivery and completion of Annual Compliance plans within agreed timeframe.
- Completion of annual Compliance Risk Assessment and on an ongoing basis taking into account findings and regulatory / industry developments.
- Develop and maintain a collaborative working relationship with Heads of RC/FCC Compliance and key business stakeholders whilst ensuring independence of the monitoring function.
- Engage key stakeholders such as the Singapore (SGH) representatives of RC FCC across various business lines and the Regional Monitoring team
To be successful in this role, you should meet the following requirements
- Degree holder with significant compliance or relevant audit / risk experience covering a wide range of business areas.
- Knowledge of key current regulatory change initiatives and their impacts on the businesses.
- Proven ability in engaging key stakeholders with strong people management skills.
- An excellent understanding of the regulatory environment and expectations.
- Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate effectively with both Compliance and Business Senior Management.
- Ability to support decisions with sound reasoning.
- Ability to clearly articulate business and regulatory implications of analysis and findings.
- Highly motivated self-starter with proven ability to work collaboratively within teams and to deliver on time.
