Principal Accountabilities
Reporting into the Head of Global Trade Receivables Finance (GTRF), the incumbent will be required to own and drive the Global Banking (GB) Financial Institutions (FI) GTRF business development activity. This would include developing a coherent strategy and action plan to maximise revenues from existing and new clients for Singapore; targeting regional decision makers and drive business growth regionally from those companies who have RTCs/ Buying Offices in Singapore and respond to RFPs; The incumbent would also be required to articulate the GTRF strategy to various internal stakeholders viz. RMs/ Risk/ Product/ Regional GTRF and be able to work very closely with them.
• Maximise revenue from existing portfolio of clients
• Ensure underlying health of business ie increased volumes/ counts/ assets/ facility utilisation
• Build a strong pipeline of deals and new clients from existing client referrals
• Embody the HSBC values and spirit in all interactions with clients and internal stakeholders
• Develop the FI proposition locally and regionally (e.g. Reimbursement Financing Secondary Market purchases)
• Raise visibility and profile of the business – both externally and internally
• Develop and maximize key trade corridor strategy for GB
• Build strong relationships with clients by delivering products and processes in line with expectations
• Set up an extensive client calling program
• Work with RMs/ Risk/ Product to structure facilities in a most efficient way from a risk/ return perspective
• Effectively manage a team of 4-5 GTRF Business Development Executives.
• Ensure suitable guidance, target setting and motivation levels of the team
• Lead by example in demonstrating engagement and teamwork with RMs and other stakeholders including Risk/ FOT/ MO etc.
• Ensure speedy implementation of sanctioned facilities
• Make effective use of various sales management tools
Skills/Attributes
- A degree holder with at least 10 years of Trade expertise
- Extensive exposure to all aspects of trade, which include risks, structures and products is a key requirement.
- Strong values that are aligned to group principles and behaviours
- Demonstrated expertise in Trade business development
- Demonstrated ability to effectively lead a team of experienced BDMs
- Competent credit skills regarding evaluation of credit proposals, including trade facilities
- Broad corporate banking experience with strong problem solving skills
- A track record of building strong working relationships with key internal stakeholders
- Strong communication (including written and spoken English language skills) and presentation skills
- Strong interpersonal skills and ability to liaise effectively with personnel across functions
- Seasoned and astute commercial judgment in evaluating business opportunities.
