The Senior Virology Sales Specialist is a field-based representative who executes Janssen Therapeutics-Virology sales strategies selling Janssen Therapeutics products within an assigned geographical territory. The Senior VSS reports to the District Manager and they must be able to demonstrate a mastery of the product's clinical efficacy, articulate a value proposition for the customer, provide product support/ information as needed, and achieve their sales quota. Successful candidate must be acknowledged expert on products and their related markets in all areas relevant to internal and external customers: such as, clinical, technical and health economics and be able to build positive and productive customer relationships with key institutional accounts and providers for the purpose of demand creation for all assigned Janssen Therapeutics products. The Senior VSS will perform market development activities for new products and indications within approved product label. They must be able to develop a complete understanding of the health care delivery system within each assigned account including the physician hierarchy, key pharmacy personnel, clinical nursing staff, etc.

This role also requires an understanding of reimbursement. The Senior VSS must understand short-and long-term sales potential relevant to percentage of patients treated, patient mix, Managed Care organizations and contracts, and new protocols or new treatment modalities that impact business potential. They must partner with District Councils to meet business needs and facilitate product pull through and be able to have cross-functional communication with local Access and Reimbursement Manager, Key Account Manager, and Community Liaison. They will provide business intelligence to the District Manager (e.g. assessing risks and opportunities, improving District strategy in the virology market) and compile and maintain a customer database that documents appropriate customer information and contacts that can be shared across the organization.

Qualifications

The ideal candidate will possess a minimum of a Bachelor's degree and have a minimum of 5 years of healthcare sales experience. Two or more years of HIV, Institutional Sales, or Specialty Sales experience is required. Candidate must also have a valid driver's license in one of the 50 states and a clean driving record. Successful candidates should also have demonstrated verbal and written communication skills, as well as a track record of producing solid results in a functional group or commercial operations. They will also have the ability to work on multiple tasks and be willing to travel as necessary.
