Job Description:
Ancestry.com is looking for an experienced, motivated Windows System Administrator with Linux experience to work all aspects of server and data center support and associated infrastructure.
Key Responsibilities / Performance Requirements:
- Deploy, manage, maintain, and support Windows systems and some Linux systems, and related technology
- Respond to monitoring alerts via Zyrion to quickly identify trouble source and implement resolution
- Provide technical solutions to automate processes or functions to improve business operations
- Assist with design and implementation of data center technology projects as directed
- Design and develop scripts to automate manual tasks related to data center operations and maintenance
- Determine and document policies, processes, and procedures
Required Skills:
- At least 5 years experience managing IT systems for a mid-size to large company Experience supporting a data center is a plus
- Four year college technical degree or Microsoft MSCE or equivalent certification
- Experience installing, deploying, and maintaining servers and other hardware in a data center environment
- Demonstrated success and experience implementing, maintaining, and troubleshooting Microsoft Windows (all versions including Server Core and HPC) and related technologies, along with some Linux experience
- Clustered environments experience
- Experience with server and IO virtualization technologies including UCS and Xsigo, and hypervisors VMware, Hyper-V, Xen, KVM, etc.
- Knowledge and experience with networking technologies including TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, SMTP and other standard Internet protocols
- An understanding of working within a domain-environment is a must
- Experience with scripting technologies (PowerShell, Perl, Kixtart etc…) a plus
- Must be self-motivated and able to work independently
- Must have excellent interpersonal and customer service skills
- Must be able to lift up to 35 pounds
- Must be able to provide 24x7 on call support for data center emergencies
- ITIL training/experience a plus
