Overview
The Senior Writer, Investment Marketing, will play a key role in helping Wellington Management meet the growing demand for professional-quality investment content across a variety of business lines and market segments. The primary focus of this London-based position will be to provide content for our EMEA intermediary business as well as support our desire to showcase thought leaders from among our Europe- and Asia Pacific-based investors. The position will contribute to the Editorial Services Team's efforts to ensure consistency in the Wellington 'voice' and editorial style. This individual will be part of the Editorial Services Team and report to the Manager of Editorial Services based in our Boston headquarters. Editorial Services is part of Wellington Management's Investment Marketing Team, which is structured as an internal agency and includes teams dedicated to writing/editing, communications strategy, design (electronic and print), and traffic/technology. This individual will work closely with our London-based Communications Strategist.
Responsibilities
The Senior Writer will have the following responsibilities:
• Write and edit original content for asset-class-specific communications, recurring broader market commentaries, event-driven market perspectives, white papers, and other materials to be distributed to clients and prospects. Tailor content as appropriate across all media types.
• Work with the Manager of Editorial Services and other teams in the marketing group, as well as product management, investment, and relationship teams to determine editorial strategy, gather necessary background information prior to writing, confirm accuracy of content, and refine the voice and message of the content.
• Leverage existing content, research, scripts, and other materials to package for use with varied audiences and to meet needs for new content.
• Support additional functions of the Editorial Services Team, including copyediting, proofreading, and project management. Serve as an editorial consultant to internal groups developing content.
Qualifications
• Significant, relevant professional writing experience working for an asset management or other investment-related company, or an agency serving the investment industry.
• Exceptional writing skills and demonstrated proficiency in writing for a variety of audiences with a particular focus on intermediaries and their clients. Some editing and proofreading experience.
• Strong understanding of investment concepts across equity, fixed, and alternative asset classes as well as capital market and macroeconomic trends. Ability to translate and communicate these ideas effectively and concisely to an intermediary/high-net-worth audience.
• Ability to work collaboratively with a wide range of internal stakeholders and to convey credibility when working with investment professionals.
• Experience writing for the Web.
