Senior/Principal Dealer, Foreign Exchange and Gold
Description
Principal accountabilities:
- Market-making and hedging foreign exchange and gold products (including derivatives) with central banks and commercial counterparties
- Marketing FX and gold products and BIS services to central banks
- Developing existing FX and gold customer relationships and continuing to develop new ones
- Monitoring financial market developments in order to keep BIS Management and central bank customers apprised; producing the daily comment and contributing to FX and gold market reports and other financial market research
- Taking FX and gold positions in accordance with established risk guidelines
- Developing the Bank's derivatives and structured products business and managing FX and gold options
Qualification and work experience required:
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience
- At least seven years' experience dealing FX and gold spot, forwards and derivatives
- Experience in major financial markets
- Skills required:
- Dynamic and client-oriented with good interpersonal skills; good team-player
- Excellent organisational and communication skills
- Flexible and responsible approach to tasks and working hours
- Good personal initiative and judgment
- Accuracy, perseverance and ability to cope with pressure; ability to work on several issues simultaneously
- Capable of working in a multicultural environment
- Willingness and ability to travel for business, sometimes at short notice
- Fluent oral and written English; another major world language is desirable
The BIS employs staff on both open-ended and fixed-term contracts. However, all new entrants are initially recruited on a fixed-term basis. Due to our status as an international organisation we are in the privileged position to be able to recruit any nationality.
