SUMMARY
Highly visible at the outset of a new developments, this role takes the point position on the front-end evaluation of large capital projects ($1 Billion+), and is responsible for subsurface development planning, reservoir simulation, production forecasting, and reserve estimation associated with large capital projects (operated and non-operated) that span the globe. Must have the engineer experienced in both classical reservoir engineering and simulation who is familiar with large capital project tollgate/phase gate processes and risk analysis for long-life, high quality projects. Excellent communication and presentation skills are essential in this role.
SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES
- Completion of subsurface studies to support the progression of large capital projects from conceptual to execution stages.
- Build Eclipse simulation models to determine reserves and production forecasts for project evaluation
- Construct and execute uncertainty analysis to define the range of recoverable reserves and associated production forecasts
- Participate in well planning teams providing reservoir engineering expertise in well designs, DST and formation evaluation planning and management of well data analysis (pressures, fluids, SCAL and flow assurance studies)
- In non-operated projects, critically and constructively review operator provided materials including simulation models, reserves and development plans recommending the company's technical position
- For all projects, prepare high quality documentation of models and analysis along with presentations to senior management and partners.
EXPERIENCE
- Bachelor’s degree in a relevant engineering discipline is required
- 10+ years experience in the upstream petroleum industry with prior experience in similar role
- Demonstrated technical capabilities in the following areas:
- reservoir simulation
- reserve estimation
- depletion planning
- well performance prediction
- fluid characterization modeling
- SCAL data interpretation
- primary and secondary recovery
- PTA and classical reservoir engineering
- Must have experience with large capital projects ($1 Billion +)
- Proficiency in the use of Eclipse and software necessary to construct simulation models along with Saphir or a similar PTA program are required
- Proficiency with: Petroleum Experts software Prosper and GAP; experimental design software and Petrel RE are desired
