Sensory Evaluation Scientist
Work closely with the Claims Communication, Formulation and Clinical Testing Evaluation teams to coordinate internal and external sensory studies and advise on study design for consumer studies for all product categories. Liaise with the Volunteer Co-ordinator on the use of panellists. External contacts are with test volunteers and sensory and consumer testing companies.
Responsibilities:
- Investigate testing houses to perform sensory and consumer studies in key markets according to capability and cost
- Conduct and administer sensory analysis of products against competitor benchmarks in selected countries
- Analyse, present findings and advise on formulation direction to the business
- Work with chemists and advise them on optimum strategy for in-house texture analysis
- Administer and conduct specific standard studies according to established procedures and protocols
- Analyse data and advise project team
- Quality Control test data and documentation
- Recruit panellists onto consumer and sensory studies according to study inclusion/ exclusion criteria and study restrictions
- Brief panellists on sensory or consumer studies
- Train expert panels to perform sensory evaluations
- Send products externally for sensory testing
- Have full understanding and keep up to date with cosmetic sensory and consumer evaluation methods
- Perform sensory evaluations in-house and coordinate external studies with competence
- Create and distribute standard sensory study reports to project team within predetermined timelines
Requirements:
Masters/PhD in Food Science or similar with exposure to sensory evaluation, experimental design and statistics, with at least 2 years working in a Sensory role in the cosmetic, food or pharmaceutical industry
