Position Summary:
The Search Engine Optimization (SEO) Manager / Director will be an integral part of the marketing team and will be responsible for leading the development and execution of a comprehensive SEO strategy. You will be responsible for identifying areas of opportunities and evangelizing product changes and best practices to optimize SEO initiatives. You will focus on driving highly qualified traffic and acquisition efforts through the natural search channel. The candidate will be up to date with the latest industry trends and constantly changing guidelines and algorithms of various search engines.
Position Responsibilities:
- Develop and evangelize our strategy for driving organic search optimization efforts
- Responsible for developing SEO specific success metrics, creating and managing reporting, and analyzing results.
- Execute a full spectrum of SEO activities including keyword research, site audits, page- and site-level optimization, content optimization, link building, and competitive assessment
- Establish SEO service-wide guidelines, help integrate into plans and roadmaps of the appropriate internal departments
- Work with copy writers, merchants, and the content team to optimize site content, find content gaps and strategically build internal and external links.
- Monitor and analyze organic search engine website activity, traffic trends, SERP rankings through SEO campaign management tools, such as Google analytics.
- Conceptualize and execute link building campaigns and research, identify and establish partnerships with authoritative websites for link building
- Provide competitive analysis of top ranking competitor sites and ranking health of our sites
- Prepare executive-ready reporting of SEO campaign performance
Position Qualifications:
- At least 5 years of SEO experience
- A track record for continually improving and optimizing high traffic websites
- Solid understanding of search engine ranking factors, algorithms and principals
- Strong network within the SEO community. Strong written and oral communication skills
- Excellent cross-functional skills interacting with Marketing, Product Management, and Engineering team
- Strong web analytics skills including experience with Omniture, Google Analytics Webmaster Tools, ProClarity and strong Excel skills
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail. Basic web design and development knowledge or comprehension (HTML, CSS, XHTML, JavaScript, .NET, Flash Silverlight, DNS, robots, etc.)
- Clear thinker with a strong process focus and results orientation
- Excellent management, problem solving, and analytical skills
- Must enjoy working in dynamic and fast paced environment
- Proactive, take-charge attitude
- Experience in a start-up or small-company environment a plus
- BA/BS in Business, Marketing, Computer Science or Engineering
