Server Support Technician Job in Austin 78701, Texas US

Prestigious Downtown Law Firm has immediate opening for an experienced Server Support Technician in our Austin, Texas office.

The Server Support Technician will be responsible for identifying, implementing, troubleshooting and documenting maintenance and support of the server environment for the firm.

Will take the appropriate steps to upgrade the system and will solve problems related to the network.

Closely monitor the server event log and server operations. Will be responsible for backup tape management, changing, storing, and labeling of tapes.

Will update and maintain documentation relevant to server based hardware and software.

Monitor and maintain Active Directory.

Analyze, diagnose, and resolve major and minor incidents.

Will assist in the upgrade of server based hardware and software components as required.

Will work closely with other IT support and management to effectively communicate issues, project status, and recommendations for problem resolution. Maintain open communication with internal systems and user groups to ensure that problems are addressed quickly and accurately.

 Will provide essential hardware support for the personal computers, laptops, printers, and copiers for the firm. Perform minor repairs, installs, and configurations on hardware, software, and peripheral equipment.

Will be responsible for the configuration of hardware devices and testing new software.

 

 Bachelor’s or Associate’s degree in a Computer related technical field is preferred; must have a minimum of 5 years prior work experience in a similar role.

Must have experience monitoring, administering, and troubleshooting: Microsoft Active Directory, Microsoft Windows Server 2003 and 2008, Microsoft Exchange Server, SQL Server and others. Must demonstrate a knowledge of Microsoft Exchange, Microsoft Windows XP, Microsoft Windows 7,  Windows Server 2003,  Windows Server 2008, Microsoft Office 2007, and Microsoft SQL. Must have basic networking administration experience and remote site administration experience. Must have the ability to work well under deadlines and have the ability to work well under a heavy work load; will be required to have a flexible schedule.
