Service Test Technician Job in Denver 80223, Colorado Us

Metron, Inc., which is a leading manufacturer of electrical distribution and controls, has immediate openings for service test technicians. This position provides instruction and leadership to employees in the areas of customer service, troubleshooting, start-ups, parts, and returned goods. Candidates will design and construct new test equipment, assist test and quality control departments, perform new product RD and evaluation, and provide technical training for customers, representatives and employees on new and existing products.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include:

- Technical support via telephone, fax and email. Provides customers with answers to technical questions, over the phone troubleshooting, drawings, and general assistance with technical problems.
- Perform field service including warranty and compensable service calls as well as start up services for new installations. Travel may include weekends and or holidays. May be required to travel for extended periods of time to accomplish customer training, service repair or start ups. Passport required.
- Complete new product research, development, and evaluation. Plans, lays out and performs specialized work of substantial variety and complexity. May act as a consultant or advisor to customers, engineers, or other employees. Responsible for or assists with assignments requiring independent and individual contribution.
- Complete functional testing of all models of completed fire pump controllers and custom built controls. Trouble shooting to the component level of all equipment that does not pass testing. Performs final inspection of completed controllers and QC inspection of equipment. Performs functional analysis and reliability testing of new products. Assists engineering department with research, development and evaluation of new proposed equipment.
-Process RGA and apply customer credit when appropriate.
-Designs and constructs new test equipment.

Requirements:

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill and or ability required.
- Ability to read and interpret wiring schematics.
- Experience working with 12 VDC to 120 VDC
- Experience working with 12 VAC to 6,600 VAC
- Ability to troubleshoot relay logic and PLC based circuits.
- Across the line and reduced current motor control troubleshooting and testing.
- Switch board troubleshooting and testing
- Ability to troubleshoot equipment and conduct training over the phone and email
- Familiarization with NFPA 20, NFPA 25, NFPA 70.

Education and/or Experience:

Associates Degree (AA) or equivalent from two-year college, technical school or military training; and three to four years related experience and/or training or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Language Skills:

Ability to read, analyze and interpret technical procedures or governmental regulations.  Ability to write reports and procedure manuals.  Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from managers, clients, customers, and employees.  Ability to clearly communicate with customers via telephone, instant messaging programs or video conference.

Reasoning Ability:

Ability to apply commonsense understanding to carry out instructions provided in written, oral or diagram form.  Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standard situations.

Additional Skills:

Ability to apply basic math skills to solve formulas in relation to basic electrical circuits.  Ability to use Microsoft Word, Microsoft Office Excel and Power Point.
