Position Description:
SunGard's global trading solutions help buy- and sell-side firms achieve increased performance, low latency and execution across multiple platforms, asset classes and markets. SunGard provides equities, futures, fixed income, options and energy traders with trading, risk management, market data, compliance and surveillance solutions. Linking buy-side firms to brokers, SunGard provides access to liquidity pools as well as order management, advanced execution and smart order routing.
The Application Support engineer, reporting to the Operations Manager, is responsible for the following:

• Manage team organization (shift rota, weekend work, leave,..), follow up and reporting on team activities
• Day-to-day technical support of trading applications (front end GUI on Windows, backend servers on Linux).
• Operate the Service Desk, interact with clients, participate in Incident Management and Problem Management of operational incidents.
• Change management of production systems.
• Exception-based monitoring of application environment, using the in-house monitoring tool.
• Partner with Technical Account Managers on production issues and changes

Position Requirements:
The candidate must have a proven track record in application support, with 4+ years of experience.
In addition, the successful candidate will have the following qualities:

• Previous experience with SunGard TCC (GL TRADE) products
• Client-focus: anticipate the impact of one's actions on clients' environment.
• Ability to handle stressful situations such as heavy workload, deadline pressure, high-impact production issues, long hours.
• Calm and clear-headed in handling high-impact production issues.
• Knowledge of stock-market mechanisms (placing orders and life cycle) is a plus
• Working understanding of Redhat Linux and/or Solaris operating systems (script writing, vi etc)
• Good team worker, strong analytical and problem solving skills.
• Ability to learn new skills and adapt to new environment quickly.
• Strong sense of ownership and commitment to excellence.
• Strong interest in application support.
• Good English and communication skills (verbal and written).
• ITIL certification is a plus.
