Team Overview
The Web Technology Team is part of Group IT and their role is to act as a development, support and consultancy resource for the intranet, internet and extranet environments based on a number of vendor technologies. The team also has the responsibility to ensure that all development follows a defined set of standards and it adheres to change management procedures when deploying application changes throughout all environments to production. The team also provide consultancy services to the business community and other Core IT initiatives.
Overview of role
The SharePoint Analyst Developer role is to provide services to the Business Collaboration Team who require a step change in the new SharePoint 2010 based Intranet to allow the completion of the migration from the old Vignette based Intranet. The candidate will be expected to use their knowledge of SharePoint to provide the best solution based on out of the box SharePoint capabilities, SharePoint Designer/InfoPath enhancements and custom SharePoint based solutions as appropriate.
Key duties include the following:
- To provide SharePoint 2010 knowledge to deliver effective and supportable solutions
- To provide consultancy and guidance to further enhance existing web parts and applications
The role holder will be responsible for planning their own workload typically against a backdrop of changing priorities and / or external events.
The role holder will be required to make judgments in situations that are well precedented and uncontentious. The role holder would be expected to ask for assistance in anything complex or out of the ordinary.
Essential Skills
Strong knowledge and understanding in Microsoft SharePoint 2010.
Experience with C#, ASP.NET, PowerShell, IIS, SQL Development.
Experience in developing and maintaining Web services.
Experience of building and maintaining application using Object Oriented methodology.
KPI knowledge.
Experience working with SQL Server 2008.
SharePoint development experience.
Experience with HTML and Javascript (preferably jQuery).
Ability to understand business and technical requirements and architect solutions based on them.
Must have a good understanding of software development life cycle (SDLC).
