Chevron's Gulf of Mexico Business Unit (GOM) is accepting online applications for the position of Shelf Completion Engineer to be responsible for supporting the Shelf Asset teams in the Covington and Lafayette, LA offices.

Completion engineers work as part of a functional group that supports asset teams. The position is responsible for performing technical completion engineering including completion design, cost estimates, project planning, operations support and review of rig and equipment requirements. Selected candidates will participate in field reviews, peer reviews, optimization studies, and gather local operational knowledge/experience. The Engineer will apply Capital Stewardship principles, Decision Analysis, Risk Assessment and Completion Engineering practices. Completion Engineers are expected to be active members of Chevron's Global DC Networks and Communities of Practice in order to capture and share lessons learned and best practices with the work group and global DC community. GOM Shelf Completion Engineer will be assigned projects and work expectations will be set by the Drilling Completion Engineering Manager. Primary duties will be to support the Shelf Asset teams.

Position Details:
Responsibilities for this position may include but are not limited to:

  • Cost estimates and scoping of data for alternative well options, considering life of well issues" (e.g. future workovers, recompletions, abandonment, etc.)
  • Recommend completion type (e.g. horizontal, multi-lateral, short radius, sidetracks, HRWP, no sand control, surge/no surge, degree of under balance, commingling, one trip, multi-zone frac pack or conventional frac pack)
  • All aspects of Completion program design, development and permitting. Coordinate the gathering of pre-completion data for design criteria, including data for RMA, and performance of existing similar completions - (tubing design, connection metallurgy selection, corrosion mitigation plan, Injection Mandrels, etc)
  • Development of the completion program and completion procedure. Consolidation and preparation of the entire completion program package including all approvals and endorsements.
  • Equipment procurement/forecasting
  • Use of Company's Project Management Processes (CPDEP-Chevron Project Development and Execution Process), Risk Uncertainty Management tools, and Management of Change process when developing drilling and/or completion programs.
  • Vendor evaluation and selection, as well as work order development for vendors critical to the process
  • Completion Execution-participate on a Rig team to monitor and execute the completion program.
  • Provides engineering and technical support to the Superintendent and Drill Site Managers as necessary to execute the completion.
  • Managing a process of continuous improvement in well planning
  • Supports and actively participates in Health, Safety and Environment efforts to achieve goal of zero incidents

    Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelors degree in an Engineering discipline
  • Minimum of 5 years in relevant completion engineering experience
  • Demonstrated performance in Completion Engineering including completion design and execution.
  • Experienced in Frac Pack design and execution.
  • Demonstrated performance in successfully influencing partners and regulators.
  • Demonstrated strong leadership behaviors that build successful relationships with partners, joint project teams, and inter-company cross functional teams.
  • Demonstrated performance in evaluating and deploying emerging completion technologies.
  • Demonstrated performance in working with industry and/or service partners in developing and advancing emerging completion technologies.

    Preferred Qualifications:

  • Competent in the design and installation of completions and intervention methods.
  • Competent in frac pack design models such as StimPlan, MFRAC, etc.
