Shift Lead - 2nd Shift Tracking Code 2012-006 Job Description Job Summary: The following describes in general terms the purpose and scope of the position. The Shift Lead directs and coordinates activities associated with assigned shift. Essential Functions: The following description has been provided as examples of the types of work performed by employees assigned to this job classification. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions. * Helps to maintain a safe work environment. * Supports and maintains essential duties of primary role. * Utilizes and supports Lean, Continuous Improvement, and Goal Deployment tools in day to day activities. * Schedules and assigns duties. * Establishes or adjusts work to meet productions schedules. * Orders tools and inspection media. * Suggests changes in use of equipment to increase efficiency of shop, department, or work crew. * Document improvements to standard work procedures to increase efficiency of department. * Analyzes and resolves production problems or assists team members in solving production problems. * Confers with other supervisors, managers, and leads to coordinate activities. * Confers with quality and engineering for support. * Requisitions and maintains supplies within departmental budget. * Demonstrates understanding of departmental processes. * Performs activities within the shift as required. * Issues written and oral instructions. * Provides input for performance review process. * Responsible for timely communication of any potential personnel issues. * Attends meetings as scheduled. * As a delegate, maintains time and attendance records for department within computer database. * Position will support Shift Supervisor during vacations, training, Kaizens, etc. * Champions corrective actions within the department for process improvements. * Maintains departmental matrix boards. * Other duties as assigned. * Ability to work overtime to support the customer as required * Regular reliable attendance Required Skills Basic Qualifications: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required. * Ability to use measuring instruments including but not limited to calipers, indicators, and scales * Ability to operate a forklift * Ability to operate a hoist * Knowledge of aerospace company specifications and practices * Read and understand internal procedures and policies * Understand and follow through on both verbal and written instructions * Ability to manage numerous projects and meet deadlines as required * Ability to work independently and a good memory for detail * Ability to lead a group of people in a constructive, productive and fair manner * Team oriented with a continuous improvement Required Experience Experience/Training/Education/Certification: To perform this job successfully, an individual must posses the outlined experience level, education, training and certifications in order to be considered. * High school diploma or GED or technical school; or equivalent combination of education and experience * One year machining and/or waterjet background preferred * Ability to read and interpret blueprints and mylars * Computer experience: Microsoft Office, BaaN * Math Skills decimals, percentages, fractions, ratios, proportions geometry and trigonometry is a plus Job Location Parsons, KS US Position Type Full-Time/Regular Apply Connect Who do you know at Ducommun Incorporated Share Return to Search Results
