RG Steel, LLC is an integrated flat-rolled steel producer located in Warren, Ohio. Applicants are being sought for an immediate opening as a Shift Manager- Operations in the Caster Department.
POSITION: Shift Manager- Operations
Caster Department
EDUCATION: Bachelor’s degree in a technical field: Mechanical Engineering or Electrical Engineering degree preferred. Or an Associate’s degree in a technical field with equivalent work experience.
EXPERIENCE: Minimum of 3 to 5 years supervisory experience
in a unionized work environment. Must be computer literate, proficient in Microsoft Office software.
DUTIES: Continue the productivity established by the
preceding turn with qualified personnel scheduled
on turn.
Communicate and maintain safety, quality and
productivity with all people of the Caster Department. Regularly checks the quality of the product by examining slabs, crops, tundishes, etc.
Coordinate activities involved with steel productivity.
Carries out duties that are standardized and must be able to change when directed by superior or due to unforeseen events that break the standardized mode.
Maintain safety program as established by the Company and follow the Quality System (ISO compliance), and maintain housekeeping in the shop.
Responsible for filling open turns by callouts (as needed) and documentation of same.
Ensures all Job Safety Analysis (JSAs) and Standard Operating Practices (SOPs) are followed.
Communicates to employees Caster goals and progress towards those goals.
Conduct trials of various new materials which are set up by the processing group.
This is a 21-turn operation, requiring shifts and weekend work. Some overtime is
required dependent upon business conditions.
