Brightoil Petroleum in Singapore is engaged in overseas business development, including international oil product trade, overseas oil exploration, business development and participation in international oil market operation. Due to our business expansion, we are seeking high calibre and dedicated professionals to join us in a dynamic and challenging environment as Accountant, Shipping.
SUMMARY
To ensure effective and efficient coordination of fleet vessels operations
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
- Insurance placement and renewal
- Collect and analysis information of ships, owners, managers and others necessary for ship’s insurance placement.
- Approach brokers, Clubs and underwriters for insurance quotation and placement.
- Checking all of the policies along with legal department.
- Club entry survey and follow – up survey on completion
- Confirm Survey Company, surveyor contact with brokers, clubs or underwriters.
- Confirm ship movement.
- Check and settle survey bills.
- Inform Master / Manager for survey arrangement.
- Forward survey report to Master/ Technical Manager or obtain the survey result from Master on board.
- Contact Master / Manager for rectification plan or report.
- Insurance bills and payment
- Responsible to deal with brokers on follow up and checking Insurance Policy/Debit Notes.
- Responsible to update the latest insurance premium.
- Cargo operation, accidental survey arrangement and follow up.
- Checking vessel’s movement and reporting those vessels breaches War Risk Restricted area/IWL to Underwriters
- Claim handling
- Full operational responsibility to ensure all PI claims are handled with the best interests of Co-Assured, and timely reimbursement of claims effected.
- Maintaining records of crew Doctor visits and following up on Pre-Employment medical checks ashore
- Taking action to gather missing or necessary information to be able to make a complete and profounded judgment of the claims.
- Communication with the Chartering / Operation/Legal Department to record the operational commercial causes, backgrounds and effects of the claims.
- Maintain updated Claim Status Report and Data (ie. Hull, PI cargo, and others claim, LTIF and Loss record etc)

JOB REQUIREMENTS
- Minimum Diploma holder in an insurance-related discipline or Maritime faulty.
- At least 3-5 years’ work experience in Marine/ Shipping insurance background, ideally from a well-known shipping company
- Strong knowledge in Shipping Insurance Claims and procedures.
- Strong in numeric and written skills.
- Fast learner and able to work in an international environment
- Good negotiation and communication skills, and able to communicate effectively with people at different levels of hierarchy.
- Computer literate with good knowledge of Excel and PowerPoint.
- Bilingual in English and Mandarin is essential, as certain documents are required to be translated into Mandarin.
