Shipping & Receiving Clerk Job in Hazelwood, Missouri US
Oversees efficient warehouse procedures including FIFO, material and paperwork flow. Must be able to drive forklift truck and spot trailers during the work shift. Supports production as well as ensure shipping and receiving timelines are met and ensure that all materials are retrieved, loaded and stored in a safe, accurate and efficient manner.
ESSENTIAL ACCOUNTABLILTIES
- Observes all safety rules/regulations and perform duties in a safe and efficient manner.
- Operates forklift truck/trailer or other material handling equipment safely and efficiently.
- Receives shipping/receiving information from the supervisor regarding the day’s activity including incoming and outgoing deliveries. Loads and unloads trucks according to schedules.
- Collects paperwork from driver and verifies accuracy of materials being picked-up. Reviews shipping paperwork to ensure accuracy of products being delivered. Completes appropriate paperwork including NCRs and Bills of Lading.
- Records all shipments and deliveries on shipping log.
- Maintains the warehouse in a well organized fashion for efficient storage and loading purposes.
- Participates in monthly physical inventory to ensure accurate inventory counts by product type.
- Supports continuous improvement initiatives to ensure product meets or exceeds customer expectations.
- Assists in building productive employee relationships to develop teamwork.
- Communicates any safety, production, quality or other issue to the Customer Service Manager and Shift Supervisor.
- Serve as the Shipping contact person for all safety, production, quality and employee relations issues.
- Assists production, quality and truck drivers in resolving shipping related issues.
- Facilitates daily shipping communications between shifts.
SECONDARY ACCOUNTABILITIES
1. Acknowledges and follows customer specific work instructions regarding the movement of materials where applicable.
2. Performs all safety checks on assigned forklifts/trucks prior to operation.
3. Keeps assigned work area clean, neat, organized and free from safety hazards.
4. Ensures electric lifts are charged or LP tanks are full and/or properly stored and secured (locked).
5. All other duties as assigned.
REQUIREMENTS
1. Two years experience working in a manufacturing plant, warehouse or similar work environment.
2. Good communications skills.
3. Must be motivated and possess a high attention to detail.
4. Must have the necessary skills to perform reading, writing and mathematics in English as required.
5. Forklift operator license.
6. Prior trailer spotting experience with a safe driving history preferred.
