Silicone on Glass Lens Molding Engineer
JOB DESCRIPTION:
Company is a clean energy company located in the Research Triangle Park area of North Carolina that generates very high efficiency concentrator photovoltaic (CPV) modules. In an effort to scale up production, Company is looking for candidates for a silicone on glass lens molding engineering position. The engineer will assist in the creation of the lens molding processes, then transfer from engineering to manufacturing to transition the process from RD into pilot production. The pilot line facility is located in Henderson, NC. The environment is exciting, fast paced, focused on excellence.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Direct the creation of a molding process to produce silicone on glass lenses.
- Identify processes, machinery, automation material that will progress well from pilot line volumes to full production volumes.
- Operate with material vendors tool suppliers to prototype novel concepts.
- Function with reliability quality groups to qualify new manufacturing techniques.
- Evolve lens making process into production with associated control plan.
REQUIREMENTS:
- BS or advanced degree in Chemical Engineering, Materials Science Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related field.
- Proficiency with silicone molding in a manufacturing environment.
- Comprehension of silicone chemistry for optically clear RTV grades.
- Familiarity in automated manufacturing processes, particularly dispense robotic material handling.
- Solar experience desired but secondary to other skills.
- Desire to learn more about CPV technology work with a talented, dynamic team.
