Allison Transmission is currently looking for a Simulation Engineer at their headquarters in Indianapolis, IN.
Position Description
- Perform transmission Controller and Plant Modeling for Model In the Loop (MIL), Software In the Loop (SIL) and Hardware In the Loop Real Time (HIL RT).
- Plant Modeling will require multi-domain/multi-level subsystem and system dynamic analyses using MATLAB Simulink, AMESim software and classical techniques. Analysis includes the effects of fluid flow, thermal, heat transfer, thermodynamics, and dynamics in transmission's mechanical, hydraulic and electro-mechanical systems.
- Product responsibilities are transmission design analysis and powertrain integration/installation analysis. Primary duties include supporting product design, development, product performance/fuel economy/durability improvement, design robustness and reducing reliance on physical testing.
- Perform powertrain integration and design optimization simulations (Model In the Loop, Software In the Loop, Hardware In the Loop Real Time MIL/SIL/HIL RT, Powertrain Cooling
- Perform transmission system modeling (torsional, dynamics, lubrication distribution, spin loss, shift quality, performance, durability, and fuel economy).
- Use analysis to impact transmission design and development.
- Perform design trade-offs and optimization.
- Perform failure analysis of hardware.
- Provide analytical engineering consultation
Position Requirements
Required:
- BS degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent experience required
- Extensive experience in MATLAB/Simulink system modeling software required
- Extensive experience in AMESim transmission system modeling software required.
- Experience in transmission/powertrain/vehicle system modeling including hybrid systems required.
- Experience in fluid mechanics, structural (static and dynamics), heat transfer and thermodynamics required.
- Extensive experience in Maxwell and Simplorer required.
- Experience using Windows and MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Project) required.
- Experience in stress and fatigue life analysis technology required.
- Experience in failure analysis technology required.
- Excellence in written and spoken English required.
Preferred:
- MSME Preferred
- Experience in UGNX design and structural analysis software preferred.
